This is a grand-scale four-poster bed. Its four tall reeded (fluted) columns rise from carved acanthus bases to Corinthian-style carved acanthus capitals. The posts are joined overhead by a crossed, scrolled metal canopy frame in an antiqued bronze finish, centered on a pinecone-style finial with curled scrolls. The arched headboard is veneered in figured burl, with a carved acanthus crest and cartouche and applied rosettes. It has a paneled footboard with matching rosette medallions and wood side rails.
