This is a print of James Christensen's whimsical fantasy image of a sprawling storybook academy. Turreted towers with slate cone roofs, carved gargoyles, and gilded finials pile up against a tree-covered hillside, with snow-capped mountains and a dramatic sky behind. A procession of Christensen's robed, bearded scholars and eccentric characters gathers at the entrance: a figure in an oversized striped hat carrying a star-topped staff, sages in patterned robes, and small creatures peering from windows and ledges. It is packed with the hidden details Christensen was known for. Christensen's red signature is printed at lower left, and there is a hand signature in black ink at lower right. It is presented under glass in a double mat (suede-finish tan and green) in a wood and gold frame. Framed size: 34" x 33" (frame dimensions).
