This is a large original watercolor of two lady's slipper orchids (Paphiopedilum) against a soft pale ground. Each bloom has a white dorsal sepal veined in violet, long wavy chartreuse petals finely spotted and striped, a glossy olive-bronze pouch, and a purple staminode at the center. The flowers rise on fuzzy maroon stems, with a furled bud between them and translucent washes of leaf and petal in the background. The work combines botanical precision with a large-scale, contemporary composition. It is painted on full-sheet Arches mould-made watercolor paper, with the ARCHES watermark and the "Véritable Papier d'Arches" blind stamp at lower right, and all four deckle edges intact. It is float-mounted under glass in a whitewashed wood frame. Unsigned Framed size: 48" x 36" (frame dimensions).
