This is a large decorative Chinese ancestor portrait of a Qing dynasty civil official. He sits facing the viewer on a carved chair set on a footed dais. He wears a winter hat with a red crest and hat finial, a dark blue surcoat with a fur-trimmed collar and a buzi (mandarin rank badge) showing a bird, and a chaozhu (court necklace) of amber-toned beads with green counterweights. A brocade chair cover and a floral carpet lie beneath him, with red seal marks at lower right. It is presented under glass in a black faux-bamboo inner frame inside a wide gold-leaf crackle-finish outer frame. Medium: offset or giclée print on paper Framed size: 26" x 40" (frame dimensions).
