This lot is two Chinese reverse-painted glass panels, each in a lacquered hardwood frame with a pierced brass shou (longevity) character hanger. Left: A formal ancestor-style portrait of a Qing empress enthroned. She wears a court robe with a winged collar, several strands of court beads, and a phoenix crown. She sits on a dragon-carved throne on a stepped dais, in front of a gilt screen painted with dragons and orchids, above a tiled floor with red cloud motifs. Right: Court ladies in pastel robes gathered around a black lacquer table with a lavish dish at its center. A seated musician plays the pipa (Chinese lute) and another plays a flute, while an attendant brings a tray. The palace interior has a moon gate, hanging lanterns, fretwork, and a checkered floor. Date: 20th century Each framed size: 14" x 21" (frame dimensions).
