This is a large bronze cast after "The Broncho Buster," Frederic Remington's first and most celebrated sculpture, modeled in 1895. A cowboy fights to stay astride a violently bucking horse, one arm flung out for balance while the other grips the reins. The saddle, tack, chaps, and Western attire are finely detailed. The bronze has a dark brown to black patina, bears the Frederic Remington signature in the casting, and is mounted on an oval green marble base. It's an iconic image of the American West and a classic centerpiece for a desk, mantel, or Western collection. This is a later reproduction casting and is not represented as a lifetime Remington bronze. The quirt (riding whip) in the raised hand is missing, which is a common loss on this model. Please see photos for condition. Dimensions: Sculpture: 21.5" L x 9" W Height: 24" with marble base; 22.5" bronze alone Marble base: 18" L x 10" W x 1.5" H
